The others also did as he did and their shields also appeared and they rushed forward.

Before the words could fully process, a sharp, white-hot flash of agony exploded in my abdomen as his fist struck my stomach with brutal force. His mocking laughter echoed through the empty lot as my vision began to fracture. I felt my weakened body being lifted off the ground, and right before the suffocating darkness completely swallowed my consciousness, I managed to force a final, venomous phrase past my lips.
