“Why am I here? What do you want from me? I was with someone in the bar. Is he here too? Are you holding him too? I’m losing circulation in my hands.” Heloise had all she could do to refrain from giggling with delight over her former lover’s distress. It gave her intense satisfaction to see him suffer, even if it wasn’t the type of suffering she felt he should be experiencing. It was at least suffering and a prelude to the emotional turmoil that awaited him and his mousy little lover girl. It was bad enough to discover that he’d been bonded to the next ruler of shadow land without learning that he was happily in love with her. It was just too unfair.

she moaned. A heaviness swept over him when he saw tears escaping from the corners of her eyes. She was weeping for him in her sleep. Somehow, she’d rejected his explanation of being a shadow walker and was convinced he was dead. It was then that he realized the impact of him having Wilma place her next to his mundane body would have on her when she awoke. He closed his eyes and heaved a sigh. Things weren’t going the way he’d hoped at all. He needed a new game plan.

Today was already the worst day of Shiloh's life. Her son was dead. No one could understand that kind of grief. Even with a broken leg, she'd dragged herself here to say goodbye. But the Prestons threw her out of the memorial room. They beat her with canes. Threw rocks at her. Dumped all their hate on a mother who had just lost her child. A rock hit Shiloh's forehead, and blood ran down her face. Someone ripped away her crutch and beat her with it.

I was bleeding badly, but I still managed to shove Irene away and limp toward the door. Nolan was already there when I staggered outside. His eyes turned bloodshot the second he saw me. Instead of helping me, he shoved me to the ground. "How could you be this heartless?" he shouted. "Why didn't you bring your sister out?" He dashed into the burning house. I blacked out due to severe smoke inhalation. I woke up to blinding agony. Someone was cutting skin from my thigh and face. Nolan's gentle voice cut through the pain as he spoke. "People online are saying Irene slept around with different men. They're saying she started the fire after her promiscuity was exposed."

He looked like a man who had finally found a reason to stop running. "I will help her," Malachi said. His voice had lost its tremor. "But you must stay in the circle, Reaper. If you move, the Shackle will flare. The clash of your anchor and her power will stop her heart. You have to be her ground while I purge the rot." Sloane did not argue. He sheathed his silver blade and knelt by the straw pallet. His hands hovered over Elena's glowing frame. "Do it, old man." His voice was low. "But if she screams, I am taking your head."

I assured Shiloh. “Oh,” Shiloh’s voice said quietly with remorse. “Were you disrespectful to your mother, Shiloh?” I asked in a stern voice. Shiloh hesitated momentarily before acknowledging, "Yes, I need to go and apologize to Mom and her friend. Thank you, Auntie Grace." She then mumbled a quick goodbye before finally hanging up the phone. Rei’s Point of View

"SHIN!" Shireen was not a woman who was easily seduced by the tricks of the men. Shireen is a woman who is loyal to her partner. No matter how many times David asked her to have a fling, but Shireen's heart was still strong with Redric. Shireen really loves Redric, and vice versa.

I somehow found myself reading back this book to try and get myself back into the story to get the motivation to write more of the sequel and it was shocking how many times I cringed reading this book back! I do forget that I finished Shy when I was 16 years old. Six years on, I think it's finally time to rewrite and update this book so I can read it without cringing so horribly at 16 year old me. I hope by rewriting this it will get me back into the story and I can continue to write more updates for Defeated. In the meantime, enjoy the rewritten version of Shy called 'Shy (Rewritten)'! It will be updated bit by bit and will not be uploaded all at once! But I hope you like it!
