Setelah Joey kehilangan penglihatannya, aku rela mendonorkan korneaku padanya tanpa ragu-ragu. Dia bersumpah tidak akan pernah mengecewakanku. Namun, pernikahan kami malah terus diundur sejak kekasih lamanya tiba-tiba pulang dari luar negeri. Di hari ulang tahunku, dia telat memberiku hadiah. Aku menerima hadiah itu dengan penuh penantian. Namun, yang kuterima ternyata adalah dua lembar tiket bioskop. Pertanyaanku padanya malah membuatnya kesal. "Siapa bilang orang buta nggak bisa nonton bioskop? Kamu jadi buta karena keinginanmu sendiri, bukan aku yang mencelakaimu. Jangan asyik ungkit masalah ini!" Kekasih lamanya bersikap sok lembut. "Maaf ya, Kak. Film itu nggak cocok dengan seleraku. Kalau kamu juga nggak mau pergi, buang saja tiketnya!" Aku merobek tiket itu, lalu meninggalkan rumah. Namun, aku malah mendengar bahwa Joey jadi kehilangan akal setelah tidak bisa menemukan pengantin di acara pernikahannya.
