She had thought about the corner all weekend and she had thought about the terms and she had thought about the specific thing he had done, offering instead of asking, defining instead of waiting to be told, and she had walked past the book on Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening and Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon and she had not opened it because she had needed the corner to land fully before she let anything else arrive.

And yet the last light of the evening fell through. Golden. Warm. Almost alive. There were three beds in the room. Little. Ordinary. Despite the decades. A closet. A table. A shelf full of books. All covered with dust. And yet nothing was left. Not really. It's safe. Like someone was looking after it. “Look at this.” Elio already knelt beside the shelf. The books were old. Very old. I take a peek at the books, wondering what kind of books they're. Nyx quickly hides the book titles after noticing my interest and awkwardly says that, "You won't like them, it's about some secret stuff."
