I don’t try touching it again. Closing the box, I approach the shelves. I take out the book closest to me. Brushing off the dust, I realize it’s a strategy book, written in delicate penmanship. The paper is fragile, but the tome is bound with great care. The other side of the shelf seems to have hard-bound journals. It’s like an entire couple’s life secured in one small room. I hear a scraping sound, and I turn my head to see Robert picking up a stack of small portraits from one of the iron boxes in the corner.

I only knew I woke up too late because the glaring sunlight was already piercing through the thin sheets of the curtains. “Good morning, dear.” Zed’s voice rang in my head, so I turned to glance at him. He was already sitting in an upright position, his back on the bedboard. A motivational book by Robert Kiyosaki was in his hand. “Good morning,” I replied, turning to my other side with eyes closed. The part of the bed on his side then sank, and I knew he was lying beside me. As soon as the movement steadied, I felt his mouth on my nape, running down my shoulders.

Taking my hand, he gently pulled me off the counter height stool. “Come with me. I want to show you something.” I asked no questions as I allowed him to lead me, once again, up the servant’s stairs and back into the servant’s quarters. This time, instead of taking me in a lover’s embrace, he stood me before a sofa that was upholstered in the gaudiest lemon yellow fabric that I’d ever seen. Hopefully, I find a clue or two to tell Alpha Luggard about when next he orders me to dream walk and meet him at his pack. I position the ladder to climb and find a book since I don’t find anything interesting yet and I climb up. Soon my eye catches a book because the title sounds absurd a little and I pluck it out of the shelf before coming down the ladder. I turn the book in my hand and my eyes catch the author’s name ‘Sidney Sheldon’. The book title reads ‘The Sky Is Falling’ and I chuckle before I go off to find a place seat and read through it for while before I’ll begin to quietly search while Alpha Hugh is busy with his work and online meetings.

The woodwork of the wardrobe, cabinet and bed side table was homey. She sat on the bed, jiggled it and chuckled when it creaked. At the bottom of the bed side table was a mini section of shelf filled with worn out books. She skipped through several before she noticed a black, old book with a red ribbon sewn in its spine.
