Nine Years of Silence

Nine Years of Silence

At the DeLuca Family banquet announcing its new advisor, Matteo said he was going to end nine years of secrecy and finally acknowledge our relationship in public. I stood in the back row of the banquet hall, so nervous I'd crumpled my prepared speech into a ball. Over nine years, I'd cleaned up the port books for him three times, negotiated two cross-border shipping routes, and taken a bullet for him. Everyone knew the DeLuca Family had a female advisor who never showed her face, but no one knew I was that woman. I thought that after tonight, I would finally stop being his shadow. Until the screen at the front of the banquet hall lit up. There was no photo of us. Instead, there was only a si

Rich Under Their Hate: The Social Status System

Rich Under Their Hate: The Social Status System

The low, guttural thrum that had been shaking the building stopped with a violent jolt that threw them both off their feet. Then, total silence. The lights in the penthouse vanished. The hum of the cooling systems ceased. The only sound was the heavy, ragged breathing of the two sisters in the pitch-black darkness. "Did... did we win?" Chalida asked, her voice trembling in the sudden, oppressive quiet. Pim didn't answer. She reached out in the dark, her hand finding Chalida’s arm. She could feel her sister shivering, the skin cold and damp against her own. "I don't know," Pim whispered. "But the monitor is still there. Look."

(Not) My Husband: Still The Father Of Our Children

(Not) My Husband: Still The Father Of Our Children

The room was too quiet. Ezra jolted awake, sheets twisted around his waist like restraints. His breath came in hard, ragged gasps. His ears rang from silence, the kind that follows an explosion. Moonlight cut through the blinds in narrow slashes, dust and shadows drifting like ghosts. The other half of the bed was empty. But not silent. A sound—small, choked—shuddered from the edge of the mattress. Like someone trying to drown a scream.

Awakening - Rejected Mate

Awakening - Rejected Mate

Sierra picks up a strand of my hair and twirls it with her free hand, never breaking contact of the first and I settle back down into my dark blankness as I shut my eyes once more, to focus only on her voice. The night air is still and quiet, and for once, I can’t even hear the owls in the trees or the leaves rustling on the wind outside my window. There are no other noises around us, not even the ones of the house creaking, or the Munro’s coughing in their sleep, which is a little odd, but maybe I usually sleep through the night and don’t know the world sometimes falls silent.

it was a very good book. It does however get a little repetitive with the constant backtrack to their emotions. Pages of wallowing on emotions over the past inbetween vital events, which gets broken into small segments with a few paragraphs of dwelling emotions inbetween.

Kiss Me While The Pack Burns

Kiss Me While The Pack Burns

A distant rumble shook the heavens. The crack above the city widened slightly. Everyone looked up. The darkness beyond reality was moving. Watching. Waiting. The First Silence. Nova felt it immediately. Not fear. Not anger. Curiosity. The First Silence was observing. Learning. Like it always had. The Third Silence noticed too. His expression hardened. "He's here." The First Memory nodded. "Yes." The city grew brighter. Silver light flooded the horizon. Then the world became quiet. Perfectly quiet. Every sound vanished.

Shadows of Desire

Shadows of Desire

They need to be true and timed. I close my eyes and let other people’s silence rise into mine. Behind the wall, Lena turns in her sleep, murmurs once, then settles. In the hall, Elise’s tread—light, even—makes its patrol past the clinic door. Somewhere below, Marco’s keyboard ticks once; he can’t stop himself from adjusting lines of code that are already perfect. Leo’s laugh—quiet, private—strikes like a struck match and goes out again. On the far end, Jennifer’s door closes, not a slam, not a whisper. Something measured. And Victor—his silence arrives last, heavy and precise, the kind of quiet that doesn’t ask permission to be a room. I feel myself reaching for it like a railing, then pulli

THE BILLIONAIRE’S OBSESSION

THE BILLIONAIRE’S OBSESSION

I woke up and you were gone, Damien murmured, voice husky with sleep. Sienna smiled faintly. I couldn’t sleep anymore. The silence was too loud. He came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pressing a kiss to her neck. That’s what I like about this place. The silence. Sienna leaned back into him. It’s scary, sometimes. When we’re in the middle of chaos, it’s easy to forget what we’re running from. But when everything’s quiet… You start hearing the ghosts again, he finished for her.

The Wrong Woman

The Wrong Woman

They traveled to her neck, ran across her shoulder, and then gently brushed her earlobe. His voice, rough and intimate, whispered, "Don't be afraid, Sisi." Sienna's breathing grew erratic, her nervous hands clutching the bedsheets. The sound from the movie abruptly faded into silence, and the projection screen dimmed, plunging the room into darkness. A faint glow filtered through the curtains, casting a murky, shadowy atmosphere over the space. Despite the darkness, Daniel's kisses persisted. Slowly and tentatively, he began to remove her clothes. In a gentle voice, he asked, "Are you okay with this?"

The story between Chubs and Nate got pretty dragging but I can't complaint, since I did end up loving this novel more than I thought I would. Halfway through 1088 chapters, things got more interesting and the ending was pretty good. Thanks for making the stories worth reading.

I really like the book, i've been stuck on it since i've found it .. it's just that the chapters are too short, it's basically a money grab... irritating that you can't read for at least 2-5 mins without having to pay for a new chapter.

His silent voice.

His silent voice.

"...8:50pm." His body stood in stone as he watched the professional adults clear up the room and walk out without a second glance. "...no," Dorry's whisper faltered. "That doesn't make any..." Her silence gave them a minute to sink in the truth from the sight of Dylan's body laying still on the bed, a lump formed in his throat and his eyes stung right before Dorry's abrupt breakdown shattered everything he held back at the second. "Oh my god, Dylan." Dorry rushed into the room with her voice just as scared as he was at the moment. "Oh no... no, no, no please."

I am in love with this book! I am hoping that Kyle will increase his powers with his mate so that he can kick that evil witch in the butt.(Without spoiling the read). I think that a little more steam is needed. The steam that we did get was top-notch.
