The hallway fell completely silent.
I watched him carefully, searching his face for any sign of deceit, any crack in his story. But there was none. What I saw instead was conviction, raw and unfiltered.
“He believes what he is saying,” my wolf murmured within me, echoing the uneasy conclusion forming in my own mind.
Slowly, I turned my gaze toward Silvia.
Her face had gone pale, the color drained completely. Her eyes darted around the hallway, restless and desperate, as though searching for a way out that no longer existed. When her gaze brushed mine, she could not hold it. She looked away almost immediately.
