Silent Howls
My arm twisted violently as the bones inside me broke, reformed, and lengthened in slow, torturous movement.
I gasped, choking on the pain, my body curling and stretching into a new form. My skin rippled, then split, as silver fur pushed through, shimmering unnaturally bright in the firelight.
I shook uncontrollably, every breath a war I barely won. My body cracked again, and I screamed into the dirt, unable to hold back. The fire roared, the warriors watching this in horrified silence as I finally settled my weight on four paws, panting heavily, silver fur bustling, as new instincts roared awake inside. The agony vanished, swept away in a cold, blinding power of the Lunaris bloodline.
