The full moon rose like a glowing eye in the sky, casting silver shadows across Crimson Hollow. Its light seeped into every crevice of the forest, ancient and unrelenting. Selene stood by her window, restless, unable to explain the pull inside her chest. It wasn’t just a moon. It was a summons.

She looked to be of a similar age to Cindy, and they gave off the same aura. That must be the Silva Moon Pack’s cook. The said cook turned and glanced my way, and our eyes met. She picked up a tray and brought it to the table, approaching us. “Alpha Draco; Alpha Sera,” she greeted us, giving a bow.

“I’ve only seen this type of hair on a few of our kind.” I clear my throat, lick my cracked lips, then ask her, “Did they live long? Did they have good lives?” She smiles at this, and a bright light enters her eyes. The corners of her eyes crinkle when she smiles, and I estimate that she must be in her early forties. “Hair color doesn’t indicate whether or not you live long. It’s the moon that decides that. If you were born under an auspicious day, then you’ll have a very good life indeed.”

I could see the silhouette of Cindy and her friends as they talked about the night. “I’m so sure that Blake is my mate,” she was saying. I rolled my eyes at that. I secretly hoped that her dreams would be destroyed. She had made my life hell since I stepped foot in the Blood Moon Pack, so she didn’t deserve any form of happiness. “I’m sure it’s a done deal,” one of them spoke up. “I know, but I’m still slightly worried. It shouldn’t take this much time for me to find out these things,” Cindy whined.
