I had to struggle to suppress a laugh. The Silver Myst was an urban legend, a pure silver wolf who showed up when things looked at their worst. He first appeared near four years ago, shortly after the war began, and has, supposedly, been seen numerous times since. It was always out of the corner of someone’s eye, or seen by a friend of a friend. Chris and the others were too old to believe in fairy tales.

CHAPTER 6: A Silver Goddess! Damian The strangest part was still being in her human form with all that lividness exuding from her. Tusk-sharp claws I would never imagine on a broken weakling like her. Scary canines exposed in a bitter snarl. Her naturally black hair waved thicker over her back with ancient silver streaks, gleaming no differently from the blinding light in her eyes, or do I call it blazing flames? Tears began to pour from my eyes, blurring the world as colors shifted and shadows receded. "Hush, Little One." Silver’s voice wrapped around my consciousness with a brush of soft fur. Fur that soothed the terror and dulled the pain. "I have you." Perception shifted until it looked like I was viewing the world from a distance. I tried to move, but my body wouldn’t obey my commands. "You just rest. All will be well." Little by little, my body fought back the change. No. Silver fought back the change. She kept us human. She kept the others safe.

“I'll rip your tongue out, son of a bitch.” Katie growled, but he only reacted by pressing his body even harder against her, which only fueled her need. Her own body was betraying her. “Who the hell are you?” he growled, his voice piercing her skin, giving her goosebumps. He was so close to her that she stared right into her silvery eyes, which were swirling with power; this wasn't normal, even for werewolves; eyes weren't meant to do that.
