I asked. "Someone called the consciousness of the Ash to our country, and I suspect Mariah for it." He said, and I frowned. "Why will she do that? She is trying to cleanse her system from the ash," I said, and he laughed. "Have you seen her do it? Have you seen her drink the Cutmas teas?" he asked, and I frowned because I had asked Sabrina the same question when she handed me the tea. "The Ash promises eternal youth, life and strength. If they feed it well enough, it will bless its feeder. I believe she fed Stadia to it and might be planning on feeding Moon country to it," he said.

Asher hissed. Asher is my best friend, and he is like a brother to me, but I swear he does not get sarcasm. Nash said that with so much sarcasm you could practically see the puddle of it on the damn floor. I still had a fair amount of adrenaline flowing through my veins. The crack blazed brighter than ever. For a long moment no one moved. The clearing was silent except for the hiss of the crack in the marker and the distant retreat of paws through underbrush.
