I felt tears sting my eyes and start to drip down my cheek. Sasha laughed and turned to the others. “Aww, she's crying. Look at her fat flabby arms, guys.” She said, and cackled. I shook my head, as my heart squeezed painfully, threatening to burst with the right pressure. “What do you want from me?” I cried out. “Don't you get it darling? You caused us elites a lot of trouble and we're going to make you pay, and it's going to hurt…very, very badly.”

It wanted to fall into place. I forced my breath steady, the way my mother taught me, the way you steady your hands before stitching a wound. Then I spoke the only words that had ever worked. “ASH.” Black cinders rose off the floor, spiraling around the circle. The runes flared, resisting, but the ash didn’t care. It tightened, thickened, becoming a wall—around Dax’s ankles, around the etched lines, smothering the glow. For one heartbeat, the pull on him eased.

“Finding Ash is a piece of cake for me. But the main problem is getting Jared to talk. I'm sure since he has been involved with the dark witches, he wouldn't just be able to speak even if he wanted. Amaren didn’t look up, as she opened the vial of elixir and poured it into the smaller bowl. “Ash water elixir.” She said calmly. “It's moonwater mixed with sacred ash. You wolves call it, 'lunar ash'. It cools violent magic.”

“Just do it.” Asmeral gathered the items she needed, moving with a precision that showed her deep knowledge of herbal lore. She fetched a mortar and pestle, various dried herbs, and a small vial of a dark liquid. Abigail watched silently, still shaken by the confrontation but relieved that something was being done to help Damian. Asmeral started grinding the herbs together, muttering incantations under her breath. The air around us seemed to thrum with energy as she worked, the faint glow of magic infusing the mixture. I stood by, watching her every move, my impatience barely contained.

So weird. After she did the worst thing, she stood and let one of the guys near me. I have heard magic is real, but I have never seen anything like it. Indeed, it had to be part of my dream, but it felt so real. He told me his name was Ash, I believe? I will never forget that dream because now, I'm starting to wake up and feel like never before.

The shape mimicked the mark on my ribs, but this one pulsed faintly red beneath the soil. I stepped onto the first coil. The Mirror Witch shifted behind her veil. No sound. Just the faint tink of the bone slivers on her face clinking together. Serin raised her hand. The spiral flared. The ash caught flame—but not heat. No burn. No smoke. Just light that hummed like a memory coming undone. Then she spoke. “You want to break a bond made in blood and bound in magic.” Not a question. I nodded once. “Yes.” Serin didn’t blink. “Do you understand the cost?”

YOU CANNOT CLOSE WHAT YOU ARE, it screeches. “Watch me,” I snarl. The silver surges—not outward this time, but in. Wrapping the tear, stitching it together with something that feels like choice made solid. The creature screams one last time,and collapses into ash. The tear snaps shut. Silence crashes down.

Then I looked away, I maintained a bit of prestige that I had forgotten when I was with her. I could see clearly as Aphrodite stepped forward, while Ashley's eyes had changed color. Because of that, making my fists clenched tightly, I tried to strengthen my heart. Let it go, let Aphrodite suffer this time. That's right, just as the game started, Aphrodite had fallen on her own knees. As expected that Ashley would make Aphrodite unable to breathe. Because those green eyes said… Ashley's magic and power were still as strong as they were in the past.
