Lucien yanked me backward at the same time Milo leapt in front of me. “MILO—NO!” I yelled. But something strange happened. The shadow stopped.Frozen,like it hit an invisible wall. Milo didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. He just stood there, his small face expressionless, eyes glowing faintly—not gold, not blue, something else. A color I didn’t have a name for. The corridor fell silent. The shadow retreated—slowly, reluctantly—curling back through the crack in the door like smoke being sucked away.

Milo growled, his face moving entirely close to mine. He used his heavy weight to pin me down against the soft velvet cushions. I kicked my legs hard, but he trapped them beneath him. I was entirely stuck. I couldn't move at all. "You are going to like this, Anna," Milo whispered against my ear, his hot breath making me want to completely throw up. "Please," I cried, hot tears pouring down my terrified face. "Milo, please stop." He ignored my entirely loud cries. He grabbed both of my trapped wrists entirely with one massive hand, pinning them above my head. His dark crazy eyes locked onto my shaking lips.

The dead deserved rest, even if most died from their own uncontrolled desires. By the time Felix returned to Monaire, dawn was breaking. In a hotel room, he found Melinda and Milo, who was still immobilized. Even though Justin was killed, Milo still couldn't move. That just showed how extraordinary that A-tier Malevolent Phantom was. "Sir, you'll save Milo, right?" Melinda's eyes were red. They were clearly close to each other. "I'll try. Just wait outside." Though Melinda's credentials seemed fine, Felix couldn't fully trust her since they had just met each other. I stated. “Why don’t you untie her, and we walk?” This Benny guy chided, and I shook my head. “Not going to happen,” I replied. I was a stubborn man but before I could continue, I looked over Benny's shoulder, “Took you long enough,” I smirked. “Sorry boss,” Milo answered. “Why don’t you put the gun down?” Milo pressed the gun at Benny’s head. I moved to grab his gun before Milo hit him hard as he fell to the ground. I liked Milo because he knew how to move with utter silence. His skill was why he was on my team.

I can beat him again. Before I can ask for more details, Mila storms forward.
