Her eyes glowed pale blue, just like mine had during the eclipse. She wore armor laced with silver and crystal, and her voice carried centuries. “You are Lunari,” she said gently. “And I am what’s left of those who came before you.” My mouth opened, but no sound came out. “You must listen,” the spirit continued. “There is a curse tied to your blood. A chain that awakens once in every few generations. You were born into a bloodline of balance… but also of sacrifice.” My chest tightened. “What kind of sacrifice?”

Blackness swarmed my vision as I heard tires squealing, causing me to lurch forward, the seat belt catching me. "Cameron?" I heard my name in the distance, but the voice seemed far away, and I didn't want to reach for it. I wanted to succumb to the quiet away from the physical strain my body yielded to. "Cameron! Baby, come back to me." The voice was closer, but I just wanted to move from it. My head hit something hard, jolting me back to a semi-conscious state. "Cameron. Open your eyes and look at me." Dax. Sylvanus, who was a wise and experienced, examined Jalen and smiled "Don't worry about it. His system is probably cleansing from the curse."he said with a calm and reassuring tone. I remembered that Jalen had been cursed by the moon and with that realization, I felt so happy that finally, Jalen was free from the moon's curse. Jalen moaned with discomfort and my heart raced as I watched him. When he finished I flushed and hugged him tightly and whispered in his ear " You are free now, my love." I watched as the color in his face returned and the strength in his body came back. I knew that he would be okay now.

“Like that.” Sirens screamed closer, red and blue slashing through the broken windows, lighting the walls in streaks. Sienna’s gut clenched—cops could mean help or a bigger mess.
