He shooed Pink as if she was a dirty cat. “Huh~” She gave up. “Do we have under the sea’s friends?” Blue crouched and touched the ice under him. Deeper. He commanded. The water under the block of ice created by Blue slowly froze in a straight line until as far as he could reach. As she did so, the siren's face appeared snarling and baring sharp black teeth within blue lips and a bluish white face with glass eyes. A scream escaped Amelia, causing her to suck in a mouthful of water that invaded her lungs, which were begging for air. She needed to get free, and she needed to do it soon before she blacked out. Despite her struggles, she remained caught by the siren, who was now beginning to bite her arm, drawing blood that bubbled towards the surface.

I'm just happy she isn't human. She's going to be just fine.

What the hell had I just seen? In all respects, I’m thankful that to this day only distorted, fragmentary half-images remain of what I saw flopping in that water-filled bathtub. Gills, puckering in white skin, pink around the edges, fluttering open and shut in rhythmic pulses, bubbling . . . breathing underwater.
