Esther poured herself a glass of wine. "I seldom drink, but tonight's selection is a prized collection of my brother's. This wine can't be bought in the markets anymore. They're all acquired from auctions at high prices. It would be a waste if I didn't take a sip."

Sister stated opening the bottle. “Except for changing water into wine,” I added giggling. “Yes, except for that…” she winked, “You will drink with me, won't you?” she asked just when she started pouring a glass for me. “Of course,” I agreed, actually glad to drink something more refine than Grandma's liquor, which contained a lot of alcohol but not as much taste. Sister seemed composed, but I could see clearly that the presence of Mahala disturbed her immensely, she wouldn't have jumped at me the way she did earlier otherwise.

I’m tempted to just hold my mouth under the nozzle. I get shit, mostly from River and Clay, for my taste in boxed wine, but it holds a special place in my heart. Lark and I got drunk on this stuff in our formative years, and not much has changed. It’s cheap and we can afford it in bulk. I grab the largest wine glass I have and fill it to the brim. It tastes divine against my tongue. My sister sags back against the counter, “Dang, sis, who hurt you this time?”

I lean my head back on the soft sofa, enjoying the sound of crackling charcoal. There's no need to cry. I repeat the small mantra to myself in hopes that these horrible feeling would go away. "Thought you might need this," I look up to see my sister with a wine glass and a bottle in her hands. She hands me the glass of what seem to be ruby coloured red wine. "Couldn't find anything stronger," "T-thank you," I reply hoarsely as I take the glass. I wipe the streaming tears from underneath my eyes before taking a sip of the alcoholic beverage. "I have work tomorrow anyways,"

Following that, she filled more wine into her glass before turning to look at Ian to say, “As for this second toast… It’s for you, Brother. You know, I used to envy Jenna for having a brother who was as kind as Kevin… But now that I’ve met you, I now realize that Kevin is no match for you. In fact, he’s no match against James and Jacob either! Thank you three for being with me… I love all of you…” Though the twins wanted to stop their sister from drinking the second glass, she had already drunk it down… Seeing that, all they could do was drink as well. Moments later my sister walked in with a wine bottle in one hand and three glasses in the other. "Just to ease up the mood." she gestured then set the bottle on the table before handing us our wine glasses. She sat a few seats away from Marcello this time and turned to look at me. Hmm, guess she overheard our conversation. "I'll be the one to talk too Katina," Abree announced. Pouring herself wine she twirled the red liquid in her glass before taking a sip. "May I ask why?" Marcello questioned. She shrugged. "Why not. I'm a girl she's a girl, it would be easy."

"Voila." "I thought I was gonna hear it pop louder than that." "Oh my god, Diana. Not all wine bottles do that. You're such a basic, uncultured girl. You really need to get out of California more often." "Thanks for the heads-up." I pour the wine into my clean glass and lift it high, holding it out toward her. "Your toast." "Sisterhood." Clink. We both take a drink, and I set the glass down, ready to get down to the real reason I'm sitting here.

Deep red glass. She smiled to herself. “This one,” Athena murmured. “You always said it tasted like victory.” Behind her, Eleanor settled into the chair by the table, folding her hands neatly in her lap. Athena returned, already pulling the cork free. The soft pop echoed in the room. She poured carefully, watching the wine swirl into the glass. She brought it over and placed it gently in front of her mother. “Here,” she said. “Cheers to our becoming.” Eleanor looked at the glass for a long moment before lifting it. “Our becoming,” she echoed softly.

Justine said, pulling me to sit comfortably on one of their black leather couch. "That is my little sister, Fender, she is used to Caramel so don't worry about that, I'm sorry if it was an awkward scene for you." He apologized on his sister's behalf. "It.. it's okay." I swallowed, unable to conceal the nervousness and anxiety that greatly came with having to talk to him like this. I looked around the living room. There was a forty- two inches television displayed on the wall across from me and the whole space had a bit of antique labeled to it that made the room appear magnificent.

“It was not . . . it wasn’t him. Somebody made a mistake. I need to go and talk to them. Now!” She tried to get up but fell back onto the sofa again. Her head was spinning, blue spots rotating in her field of vision. “Hey, hey,” Andrei pushed her back. “You need to eat, little sister,” he said. “I’ll boil water, make tea. You just rest.” Svetlana lay back and closed her eyes. In the kitchen, Andrei was banging pots and pans, looking for loose tea. “In the tin,” she yelled. He came back into the living room, holding a battered tin, shaking his head in admiration.
