She was ready to go to her sister and tell her everything and together look for an option. What was certain is that Timothy was going to imprison her brother-in-law. It made her skin crawl just remembering it. She arrived at her sister’s house almost an hour later, after three in the afternoon. Allegra lived in a small neighborhood where there were only houses, neatly trimmed yard and where probably a teenager passed by delivering newspapers. The neighbors must have shared pastries and engaged in morning conversations as they took the kids to school. “Get this done,” she said aloud as she rang the doorbell.

They were not really watching, they just liked hearing sounds other than their voices. “My sister’s calling.” Mandy said while pulling her cellphone that was on vibrate mode from her jeans’ pocket. The phone was not on speaker but he could hear the voice from the other line. “I am at 1205. Our neighbor’s really nice. Why don’t you come and meet him?” And there it was again that crinkle on her nose as she made a face in response to what her sister was saying. “Hey, I have to go back to our apartment but you have to come with me… You gotta meet my sister!”

They'd been cute but guarded and he'd been distracted by their gorgeous older sister. Now he gave them his full attention. Millie, the younger one, looked exactly like her sister and brother. Dark hair, small compact body and serious eyes with a hint of mischief. Her sister, Sarah, was taller, gangly, had light brown hair and a quick smile. Though she was the youngest, Millie was clearly the more outspoken leader of the two. Jared spent the evening with his three next-door neighbours: a woman and two children. Not something he'd ever done before, but something he hoped was a pleasant glimpse into his future.

"A good neighbor is a present help. If you let my son use this place as his playroom, wouldn't he be just like your grandson? "With the addition of a grandson, you'll have more support later in life. You old fool, how can you not understand this?" I raised the knife and swung it once through the air. "If you don't leave right now, believe me, I'll chop you to pieces." Shirley stepped backward again and again until she finally retreated outside. I slammed the door shut. Her shrill, annoying voice was finally cut off. I'd lived in this apartment for two years, and the neighbors next door changed as often as the seasons.

Irina said, carefully. "Well." The recorder shifted slightly higher. "You married Neo McKinney while your sister was in a coma. Your sister, who by all accounts, was supposed to be his wife. I'm sure I'm not the first one to ask." She cocked her head. "What I'm wondering is-are you Neo McKinney's wife? Or are you just keeping the seat warm until Anna wakes up?" The Atlanta afternoon seemed to go perfectly still. Or maybe that was just Irina's head that went quiet while the rest of the world buzzed at its normal volume.

My best friend insisted I get a professional to check the entire place for spy cameras, so I did. Finally, my life resumed normal once more. I started looking for a new lady roommate. This time, I was much more cautious than before. I no longer want another creepy roommate. Late at night, when all was quiet next door, I finally had the night to myself. "That idiot. If he were to watch the video earlier, he would have realized I'm not a woman." Yes. Yours truly, a man.

Lesley's face turned red, and she mumbled, "I... I thought you were Joe. I forgot we switched seats." Her voice grew so soft it was almost inaudible. Thinking about it, I realized she must have mistakenly thought I was Joe, given the position we were in before the switch. That explanation made my earlier thoughts seem much less exciting. I had imagined something more intense happening during this late-night movie with my neighbor's pretty wife. "You and Joe really seem to enjoy pushing boundaries," I said, teasing her. It seemed like she was trying to spice up her love life with Joe by doing such a thing in my presence.

She softly says. I sigh. “It’s okay.” I say with a small smile. “Just don’t let that happen again.” >>> When we get back home, I go upstairs to my room, leaving Halsey to my mom. My phone starts vibrating. Dean: I’m sorry about your sister. Me: Why are you talking to me? It’s not like she’s dead. Dean: It seems like you’re always pushing me away, even when I try to help.
