Her Sister’s Surrogate

Her Sister’s Surrogate

Hunter added, ignoring Helena’s sharp glance. The tension at the table was thick enough to cut with one of the sterling silver knives beside our plates. “Well,” Iris said, clearly trying to change the subject, “I think it’s wonderful how you’re all supporting each other through this process. It can’t be easy.” If she only knew. There was nothing wonderful about it. Just desperation, manipulation, and my own pathetic inability to say no to my sister. “Yes,” Margo agreed, her smile not reaching her eyes. “Grace has always been so accommodating. Haven’t you, dear?”

My neighbor is famous

My neighbor is famous

I breathed, maybe a little too loud, because he heard me. His head tilted slightly in curiosity. "Oh, hey. You must be new to 5A?" "No, no, just visiting," Dad answered, patting my shoulder. "But my daughter will be working for the Walkers." Archie grinned. "Guess that makes us neighbors, then. I live next door." "Great," I squeaked, my voice way too high-pitched.

My Neighbour's Wife

My Neighbour's Wife

Beautiful things are lethal. I squint, peering into eyes of deep, burnished brown that seem to hold a hidden fire within. Flecks of amber dance at the edges, pushing back at the unnerving coldness in them. Thick, black lashes flutter against tanned, golden skin as his gaze narrows at the blood on my flimsy nightdress, and against my better judgement, I blurt, “It isn’t mine.” The man, whom I recognize from yesterday as my neighbor raises his brows as he helps me up to my feet. “Is he dead?”

My Sister's Fiance

My Sister's Fiance

The former was to visit Mama's parents and family there; the latter was for an annual vacation, though I think it was just a cover for Papa's business meetings with Mexican cartels. I swallowed and tried to make my body complacent, but I couldn't stop the rush of anticipation that rose beneath my skin. I let out a rough breath in frustration. Actually, I was very interested in my sister's fiancé, whether I liked him or not. And I didn't like it. The idea that I might be able to see him from the car window was enough to make me uneasy. I wouldn't say I liked it, but I didn't know how to turn it off, either. The city passed before my fresh eyes as we drove deeper into Nicholas de Sanctis's mod

My CEO Neighbor

My CEO Neighbor

I sternly said to my sister. “Promise, is it a she that bothering you right now? “Yeah, sort of, when I came to Ohio I met Bettany, my neighbor, and at the same time my employee. That time Jeff is still not around and I’m still clueless about the place. Bettany and I will become friends and I felt much more comfortable with her. Sometimes I smiled thinking about her that I didn’t even realize it. It’s my first time again to feel so alive inside and it scared me off”.

Little Sister

Little Sister

Andrei looked back at the door that shuddered but held as the fists of the eyeless hammered at it. “Funny neighbors you have,” he remarked acidly. “Don’t you dare.” Svetlana turned on him, her cheeks blazing with indignation. “Those are good people. Good workers. The Enemy had done something to them.” “What?” She shook her head mutely. She had never heard of anything like this. A whole neighborhood turned into . . . whatever. There were no words in her vocabulary to describe something like this. There were traitors, of course, occasional people seduced by the Enemy and gradually mutating into monsters, but so many and so sudden?

My New Neighbour

My New Neighbour

I wondered. I walked slowly towards the window with my arms wrapped around me. I grabbed the window handles to pull them back to close it but I stopped midway when I noticed the lights next door. Who could that be? The house beside us was empty for over a year. I squinted and could actually see the inside of the room through the window adjoining mine. Like seriously, I could strangle the guy who constructed these houses like that. So damn close! Anyway, we finally got some new neighbours. What an odd time to move in though, I couldn't help but think. I just hope they would be nice. My parents could have some pals.

Vette
Will there be a second book? I noticed the author doesn’t comment on anything so I’m gonna guess and say no that the readers don’t seem to matter with zero interaction from the author.. good book though.

I so enjoyed reading this and am so excited to start the second one. This novel was very well written and kept me interested. I like happy endings and the threat of revenge still is something to be aware of. The writer of this story is very talented

Sister, Sister

Sister, Sister

Even after a decade, we still did not know our neighbours first names and only entered their houses when necessary, which never happened. "Good afternoon," I say making sure to stand a few feet away so the leaves won't land on me. He stops shearing and smiles at me and says a good afternoon, there are wrinkles around his eyes and his hands are heavily veined. "My sister Lucinda died. I just thought that you should know." I can't recognize my voice, is it pain that makes my voice strained?
