And again, if you had told him this six months ago, he’d laugh in your face as well. It was the one thing about uncertainties that no one ever says, that sometimes they could turn out good and it could all work out in the end. You see where we last left Sofia and her book, and I don’t just mean an hour ago when she had come into the major idea on how to end it, it was six months ago and she had only written one chapter. But now, more than ninety later, she was at the end.

That book will also pick up where this book left off, in terms of Bobby and the Moonlight Six. I plan to start Book 2 in a few weeks, after I take some time off for a couple of family vacations. The Golden Book was still there, but it had changed. The cover wasn’t gold anymore—it was dark, rich soil. The pages were thin slices of dried wood. The book felt alive.

I also made a habit of posting pictures of my travels on social media. Every day was full of joy. It took me until I was in my sixties to realize how fascinating life could be.
