The Sixth Goodbye
One evening on a weekend, I checked the time difference and FaceTimed my parents.
Through the screen, Sasha took in my rosy complexion, her eyes crinkling with a smile. “Oh my, Naomi is having a blast there. I guess the breakup was the right decision.”
I shared with them the photos of Iceland’s aurora and glaciers with a grin.
After some small talk, my father sighed out of the blue. Something seemed to be on his mind.
“What’s wrong, Dad?”
Sasha set down her kitchen whisk and wiped her hands, her tone resigned. “What do you think? It’s about Lorenzo.”
