One had a thick scaled tail dragging slowly behind him, dark green scales glinting beneath his armor while slit-pupiled eyes fixed on me with cold curiosity.
Another bore feline traits—golden eyes, sharp ears half-hidden in dark curls, and elongated canines visible beneath a slow smile.
The third was broader than the others, massive feathered wings folded behind his back, his pale eyes unnervingly sharp, like an eagle studying something small enough to snatch from the ground.
Every single one of them was staring at me.
Hungrily.
