My Nightmares
I stand up and start walking out deliberately slow, and say, “I was just drawing my brother and the room felt weird, so I asked if he was there with me. That’s when the skeleton moved.”
Thinking that the whole thing is funny, he cracks a smile and I catch him. I smack his arm and yell at him, “Stop laughing at me and take that thing out of my room. I don’t ever want to see it again.”
Once we get back to my room, I refuse to go in until he removes the skeleton from my door. After he takes it down, he leaves with it and then comes back a few minutes later, saying as he patronizes me, “See. No harm. It’s all been taken care of now.”
