I say with a satisfied expression. He makes his way around the counter to the island where I'm busy pouring us both two glasses of juice. His arms snakes around my waist – pulling me close to his body. The closeness of both our bodies pressed against each other gives me access to feel every muscle in his body which leads to a shiver running down my spine. The damn thing is transforming”. He tries to hold the werewolf down but it pushes him off. Its backbone expands and its spinal cord increases as it transforms. Its bones push out the dagger from its back. The werewolf stands on all fours now. It looks like a wolf the size of a healthy lion, its golden eyes glowing in the dark as it looks at the two men who are now very cautious with their steps.

They don’t pretend. At school, nothing changes. The same classes, the same bored teachers, the same students pretending not to feel anything. He sits in the back, doodling in his notebook, sketching bones and skeletons almost unconsciously. A morbid habit, but a harmless one. Better bones on paper than bones in his bed. Blinding pain ripped through his entire body. His kneecap was smashed to pieces. His lower leg twisted at a grotesque, unnatural angle.

You know what, as we got closer, it appeared to only have a lizard-like face, and deep green eyes. “Master Prime Shrock, it’s a pleasure to see you”, said our escort. “Yes, thank you.” It replied. It turned towards us, and examined us with those weird eyes, like it could even see through.

I refuse to lose it to a skeleton in a cave in the middle of a damn spruce forest.

“Sasha, make the base. I’ll show the over-under once it’s set.” Sasha’s hands moved like someone telling a familiar story. She crossed the thick spokes at the center, bound them with a thinner strip, then fanned them into a sunburst. “You make the skeleton first,” she said, glancing up at me. “Get the bones right and the shape can hold.”

I grabbed hold of a skeleton rapier's hand, twisted it backwards, and I could hear the sound of bone cracking. I transformed my hand into a huge boulder and then used it to knock its head off. It went scattered. I swashed aside, then jumped and kicked a skeleton on the chest, and the bone went crashing due to the force. I stretched my hand, and the sword appeared back in my hand. I jumped in the air and planted my two feet on two skeletons' chests,
