If I collected everything that Sky knew, my mom knew, and maybe even what Justin knew before he left, we would have a large enough case to push for the destruction of Silver Mountain pack or the head of Alpha Cross. The meant a war though. A battle that I don’t think Sky or I wanted to be a part of. Sky on multiple occasions had said she just wanted to leave the pack behind. She had a few people in the pack she loved but I think she planned to bring everyone out. It was never voiced but I had a feeling just by how she talked about wanting to keep her friends close. A war would force her to fight against people she knew and grew up with; wolves that never were the villains, but the victims.

Kieran was not in the room, he was attending to other things, so I was barely distracted. One war stood out immediately; the War of the Crimson Sky. The Moon Goddess had called upon humans to fight alongside her celestial warriors. The sky, once peaceful, had turned blood-red as thousands clashed. It was said that the battle lasted for seven nights without rest, and on the final night, the Goddess herself descended, her silver light washing over the battlefield. Her presence alone ended the war, forcing the darkness to retreat.

Then another. "3… 2… 1—Happy New Year!" Around us, people cheered and kissed. Fireworks erupted, lighting up the sky in golden blooms. Warren downed the rest of the glass like he was rushing to get this whole thing over with. I watched closely. There it was. His pupils dilated. A flicker of confusion washed over his face, then a kind of dazed calm. Like a curtain had dropped over his thoughts. Perfect. "Beautiful, isn’t it?" I whispered, leaning in, my lips brushing the shell of his ear. "The sky. This moment. Us."

The way he looked at Tyr had changed entirely at that moment. Warren had still been furious at Tyr a moment ago and wanted to kill him. But now, Warren’s gaze was filled with admiration as he stared at Tyr. “I’ve heard of you, Brother Tyr. You’re my idol.” Tyr frowned, feeling a little less than comfortable with Warren’s sudden shift in attitude. “What are you…?”

I asked. "It did happen and believe me, I said not more than what they needed to know," he said and I sighed. "They only just want to know when they'll get to see him and I came up with something that will keep them quiet about Skye for a while," he added. "And that is?" I asked in suspicion. "He's away at some war and once he's back he'll see them," he said. "That makes quite some sense," Anna interjected and I sighed, for the tenth time today.

But it was something. Skye nodded. “We’ll try. But if this fails—if the genocide starts again—we will fight. With everything we have.” “I know,” Amara said quietly. “That’s why this has to work.” The ceasefire held. Barely. Both sides tense. Waiting. And Skye began the hardest fight of all. Not war.
