Skye stared at me, her lips parting with an audible sigh of relief. She wanted my touch. I wanted her too, but I knew it wasn't going to change anything. Our lives were totally different. She was consumed with her revenge, and I was consumed with killing Jade and taking back what was mine. There was no love. Only sexual attraction and that was enough for me. I didn't do relationships anyway. I leaned towards her, giving her enough time to pull away if she didn't want anything to do with me.

If I hadn't lived with Skylo for a while now, I’d have guessed he was probably in love or had a soft spot for my friend, Katya. But this was Skylo we were talking about. And love? Skylo? Irritation was fast rising in Catori. "For crying out loud, Katherine I was never with Kurt! He was and still is nothing more than a friend! In short get your hands off me." With this new anger, Catori shoved the other girl off her body and picked up on her speed. Katherine chased after her. Catori just hoped that Mrs Maxwell and the other guy were done and he had returned to her room because she didn't know how they were going to escape if he was not there yet.

I began to wonder if River did in fact have a girlfriend. We watched a movie and he stayed as far on the other end of the couch as possible, and even when we talked, he barely looked at me. “So I was mind-linking with Skyler and he said that they lined up two dates for Katrina, one tonight and one tomorrow for lunch. I couldn't fathom how Haze would react if she were to hear Cain's confession, but for my own part, I wasn't pleased with this unexpected development. Cain noticed the lack of happiness on my face in response to his confession. He asked me with concern, 'Are you okay, Richard? Did something happen between Katy and you?' His question hit me like a slap in the face, reminding me of Katy, my girlfriend whom I had met at the gala. Katy is a remarkable woman – intelligent, beautiful, and captivating. She embodied everything a man could wish for. Yet, when it came to matters concerning Haze, I found myself forgetting about Katy entirely.
