I enter the dining room and find Karina pouting like a kicked puppy again, while my mother wears that guilty expression she gets right before she cracks and agrees to whatever nonsense Karina demands.
"What's the drama about this time?" I ask casually, pulling out my chair and filling my plate.
"I want to get a tattoo, and Mom isn't thrilled about it," my sister squeaks.
"Just wait. Soon you'll be eighteen and your mate will give you a permanent one." I say it flatly, buttering a croissant, then add, just to rub salt in the wound, "Honestly, I don't envy the poor soul who ends up paired with you."
