AIDEN "Have you found anything?" I ask the Ghost, holding a tumbler of whiskey in one hand as I gaze out at the star-studded sky from the balcony. "Nothing suspicious yet," the Ghost replies, his deep voice resonating through my earpiece. The richness of his tone seems almost artificial, which isn't surprising given the person's efforts to conceal their identity. As someone known only by their alias, their true nature remains a mystery. For all I know, a woman could be orchestrating operations from behind the scenes, utilizing advanced voice alteration technology to disguise her voice. I shrug, indifferent to the Ghost's gender, as long as they deliver results.

She didn't flinch. She held his gaze. She let him look. She let him see the chestnut hair. The pale skin. The gray eyes. She let him see the ghost. And then, slowly, deliberately, she smiled. It wasn't a warm smile. It wasn't a happy smile. It was a small, cold, amused quirk of her lips. The smile of a woman who knew a secret. The smile of a woman who was bored. She broke eye contact. He lifted his head; a dab of mayonnaise stuck to the corner of his mouth.

"I was wondering when you'd show up." The beast's attention turns to her, and Ghost-me doesn't flinch. Instead, she steps forward, arms spread wide in welcome. "Hello, sister. I've been keeping them ready for you." The beast's mouth—my mouth, scaled up to impossible proportions—curves in a smile that holds the weight of futures already lived. When it exhales, Ghost-me dissolves into silver mist and flows into its lungs like she's coming home.

"You're finally awake!“ I turned to my left to see who had spoken, but I couldn't control the yelp that came out from my mouth as I came in contact with striking green eyes. He looked young and had a boyish grin on his face which suited him perfectly. He was like a specimen that had been beautifully crafted by God. The blonde curls on his head looked soft and I found myself wanting to run my hands through them. The only thing stopping me at the moment was the fact that he was a ghost.
