As her hands covered her mouth, I could have sworn I saw a smile twitching on her lips.
I looked around the onyx space, saw why she was smiling. Other gods and goddesses had settled themselves in a loose circle around us. A low haze of light filled in the ring we now found ourselves. Like looking at lamps through fog, objects and people could still be seen and distinguished, but none of it was crystal clear.
"We've come to make a deal with you, Kiema, Daughter of Heppni, Ascendant of Anda," one of the men said, stepping forward from the ranks of his siblings. His long silver hair seemed at odds with his unlined cherubic face.
