SNOW'S POV It's been five days since I abducted her. I still find it hard to believe she's the one we've been looking for. She looks too innocent with very soft and delicate features and an intricate personality. As soon as I took off her hood, long chocolate brown hair cascaded around her like a thick curtain and I had to fight the urge to tuck some strands behind her ears. Her large doe eyes were the lightest shade of blue, making her look like she was from a fairy tale. They looked so magical, they could disarm anybody and for a brief moment I thought that she might be wearing contacts.

“Come on, man. Rosa’s looking hot tonight. She keeps smiling at you, and you’ve only got eyes for your beer.” Rome looked over at Rosa. She was hot. Long, red hair, and legs that never ended. She was definitely someone he’d be interested in getting to know better--if it weren’t for that phone call earlier. All he could think about was Ella. Snowflakes fell thick and fast that day. Janet could not move her legs and was left shivering in the snow. It was so cold outside that she could have frozen to death. Slowly, she felt her body turning to ice. However, she did not cry out or try to call for help.

However, the truth was, my name had been cleared. I took care of everything and sold the old house, ready to leave it all behind. Hank sent word he wanted to meet, but I did not want to see him. I opened the door just a few inches and saw a small cardboard box sitting on the carpet with no name and no return address, so I pulled it inside and opened the lid while the others crowded around me to see what was inside. Resting on a bed of white tissue paper was a single rose made of delicate glass and the stem was broken in half so it looked dead and jagged, and I knew immediately that it was a message from Elena Romano because that rose was the symbol of the investment firm we had burned down in Berlin.

The afternoon was spent going through the neglected reports. Kaelus examined the supply charts and the Northern defense maps, while Roselyn signed the harvest permits for the rebloom petals needed for the upcoming Snow Festival. As evening approached, Kaelus led Roselyn to the balcony overlooking the estate's courtyard. Down below, workers were busy arranging ice lanterns along the walkways, lighting a warm, golden glow across the snow.
