The island was apparently only a few kilometers off the coast. Elias looked around. “This is impossible. We were days at sea.” John’s words echoed in her. Never lost path. Was the storm really just a storm? Or had the island deliberately returned it? A Martinshorn sounded in the distance. A black van bog around the corner of the harbor camp. No police marking. No company. Tinted discs. Jonas reacted immediately. “Get down!” He pulled Mara behind a container. The van stopped at the port entrance. Two people got out.

Everyone got silent as a man she saw that Matt followed behind, he climbed up on the makeshift stage and gave a speech. “Thank you, everyone for coming tonight for this occasion. As all know the evening will start with promoting ranks of soldiers who earned and were selfless and courageous in the battlefield. Soldiers who worked long and hard to earn the positions that are now to be given to them as in acknowledge and approval for all their hard work and actions they have done to protect us and our country and their brothers on the field.

The island is a remote island, although it can be as big as a country, there are only a few people who reside here. “It’s okay, Victoria. I can handle myself,” she said then continued eating. I looked at Gabriella and she was almost finished with her vegetables. I’m really glad that she wasn’t a picky eater since we were definitely not. We liked to let her try all sorts of food, then let her decide whether she likes the flavor or not. I smiled at her and helped her finish up. Suddenly, I heard a commotion by the gates. It wasn’t far from where we are, but when I looked, the soldiers were being attacked. There were people trying to get in. I immediately stood and held Gabriella’s arm.

So, there was only one more way to access the mysterious island; going through Yelonhta. It took ten days to go through Yelonhta to meet the ocean. After buying a boat and enough food for a week, the team embarked on the sail. On the way, they saw a boat that carried a prisoner who was sentenced to death. The prisoner was Kai de Vinsec- a Yelonhtese military official who was caught having an affair with a minister because the rules said that any female military official in Yelonhta could not have relationships, marry or have children. Kai was thrown to the deep sea by the soldiers, but Nikang saved her from death and asked her to join them. That way, six women entered the cursed island.

“Negotiations have failed.” Of course they did. “The Queen has ordered the detainment of all U.S. personnel.” My body went still. “…clarify,” I said. A pause. Then— “All soldiers on the island have been detained, sir.” The words didn’t register at first. “How many?” “…approximately forty thousand.” Silence. Heavy. Unreal. “They were disarmed,” he continued. “Escorted without resistance.” My voice dropped. “How do you lose forty thousand soldiers…” “…without a single shot fired?”

I beamed into his bright green eyes and took a still breath before speaking. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready,” I told him, placing my hands on his shoulders and drawing his lips near to mine. Slowly, like the setting sun and the ocean horizon, our lips came together on his island. The soft scent of a tropical island, the waves, and the beach mingled with his cologne and I knew that I would forever be in love with his island kisses.

And this Island from where he operates his empire belongs to him as well. Nividean islands are more beautiful and attract tourists like crazy. Except for the Island where Kyle lives, the other islands are open to tourism upto a certain point. After that point, everything will be barricaded under the guise of security. Kyle's business will be within the high barricaded walls of these Islands. Mineral extraction, weapons shipments, and things like that will be operated from there. These Islands provide him easy access to upload shipments and ship them to his dealers. And no one would dare to check these Islands. They just unsee it even If the authorities know about it all.

I lived off MREs for years, and though the thought turns my stomach, I'd survive if I had to do it again. I long for our home at Homestead One at the northern part of the island or even a quick trip to Jardines del Rey, christened Love Island or shortened by the Warriors to Del Rey. King appropriated it for me as a place to decompress. But no, I'm stuck here at the citadel playing queen bee to a bunch of harpies.
