She snatched a glass of water off the table beside her and flung it at him.
The water froze midair. Every droplet suspended, glistening.
Adam tilted his head, amused. “Better.”
Then he waved a hand and all at once, the droplets reversed course, gathering back into the glass as if time itself obeyed him.
Her blood ran cold.
He smiled. “Welcome to Level Two, darling. Here, I’m God.”
Her voice shook. “Then I’ll learn to kill God.”
His smile faltered. “That’s the problem with you, Lola. You mistake rebellion for healing.”
