His neck thickened, spine arching with an unnatural twist. A guttural growl erupted from his chest. It rolled out like thunder, then snapped into a roar. He wrenched his limbs free, ice spikes shattering around him as he broke loose. Steam hissed from his newly formed scales, fury radiating off his full beast form like a furnace left open to the winter sky. ‘Kill the Light Fae.’ These words burned in his mind. But they weren’t his. They came from his son. He inhaled deeply, fire kindling in the pit of his gut. It surged upward through his chest like molten stone forced through narrow cracks. His ribs trembled from the pressure, his throat tightening as the blaze climbed higher.
