Gage moves in front of Melody to protect her against Blaze. The two men approach one another. Gage stares Blaze in the eyes. Blaze’s eyes are icy blue, cold and dark. He wonders what Melody ever saw in this man. Why was she attracted to a dark, icy, evil man? His mind strays from the scene momentarily, something metal out of the corner of his eye. Blaze strikes Gage with a metal rod, he had hidden behind his back. Gage falls to the floor, unconscious. His head, a wound bleeding.

Blaze studied my face for a moment. His amber eyes held steady. Then he said, very simply, “Whatever is happening between us…” He paused. Not searching for words. Just choosing the right ones. “I need you to know I’m not competing for it.” I blinked. “That’s… very specific.” Blaze shrugged slightly. “I don’t work that way.” His voice stayed calm. Direct. No tension in it at all. Just certainty. He shifted his weight slightly, then added, “But I’m also not stepping back from it.”

I blink, my head is throbbing, I can hear a distant calling of my name. I try to move my lips, but instead I start to fall... I start to fall into the deep abyss of darkness. "Blaze!" Is what I hear before I finally black out. • • • •

He could not—would not, allow this to fail. In the corner, Blaze watched quietly, his heart pounding. He couldn’t help the faint smile tugging at his lips. Deep down, he prayed all of Lucas’s wicked schemes would collapse. Innocent lives were being destroyed for nothing but vengeance, and Damien had never once lifted a hand against Lucas. It was always Lucas who pushed, who twisted, who hated. And now, Blaze thought bitterly, he had gone too far. His chest tightened as another memory surfaced, Maddena. Her laughter. Her warmth. Her gentle smile.

June took in a deep breath and slide his room door open, to his surprise he saw Apollo and Levi standing there, glaring at eachother. "How long have you two been here?" June asked. Levi broke the eye contact first to smile at June. June saw a small victorious smile flash on Apollo's face before he too faced him. "Master, I came to get your blessings for today's performance," Levi gushed. True he accepted the fact that, June will not love him back. But it was hard for Levi to move on. "Oh, wait I have something for you!" June said, slapping his forehead. He reached for his inner pocket and pulled out a sliver bracelet, with a small citrine craved into it.

She shook her head in response to Blade’s questioning stare and tightened her lips to show how much she disapproved of it. I was left confused as to why Blade was requiring the old lady’s permission to reveal whatever was bothering him to me. I placed my other hand on our intertwined hands. “Please tell me, I am tired of being left in the dark. You just asked me to trust you and I do, why can’t you trust me?” His eyes met mine again and he leaned down to kiss my palm. “I trust you.” “Then tell me.” The old lady was seething inwards but Blade ignored her. “I have a condition.” He began. “I… I am somehow cursed.”

"You don't need my blessing." Cassidy's expression became tense, but Cadence's following words made her relax. "He hates me so much. What could I possibly do to stop you?" Cassidy picked up the glass of water and placed it into Cadence's hands while gently saying, "Then, help me one last time." A wave of dread surged through Cadence's heart. She instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Cassidy suddenly yanked it forward and splashed the entire glass of water onto her own face!

“Good! Reverse-shield the Blazer! Max strength!” “Yes, sir!” Trey’s face showed worry and reluctance, but he faithfully followed the commands of his superior; even if those commands were problematic, it was not his place to question them. All power users had one very clear limit to their power – no multitasking. Soothers could only have one soothing field active at a time, Blazers could only control one connected area of fire at a time, and Shielders could only have one shield active at a time. Thus, as soon as a dome 5 meters (16 feet) in diameter surrounded the Blazer, the shield around Noah and Trey disappeared.

I don’t like the look on her face. “That was Gabby.” She tells me. “Ok,” I reply. “I am guessing she was the woman here with hottie #1 and hottie #2.” I say to her. “Yes, she is the assistant to Brady, hottie #2. They manage the band Crazy.” Evie explains. I know who that band. They are one of the biggest rock bands. I have been a fan since they released their first album five years ago. I look at her. I am not sure why she is smiling at me.

Blaze discarded his ripped vest, donned another, ran a hand through his hair, and walked back to the gate. "They're an hour away, and..." Blaze didn't wait for Annalise to finish. He sprinted towards the nearest car, a white Porsche Panamera. "I'll come with you!" Annalise yelled. "No, stay back. If Sandro comes looking for me, tell him where I went," Blaze instructed. He reversed the car before speeding out of the opened gate. Arriving quickly, thanks to exceeding speed limits and encountering no traffic, Blaze found a safe spot to park the car. He jumped out, turned off the ignition, and rushed toward the silent pack house. It felt deserted, and his narrowed eyes scanned the surroundings.
