Well, almost empty if not for us: Noah, Lowan, Maura, Cass, the arnis guy, another guy in a butler outfit, a girl in a maid's outfit holding a bow and arrow, a girl with a high ponytail equipped with a sword that looked like a katana, and me. There were three more beasts waiting for us on the yard. I bet the masked cosplayers were holding them off as the arnis dude came for us. I don't know how I am looking but with the horrid expressions on Alex and Joanna’s I may be looking like a fool and shit. “ E…E…Ezra, H..He…Is W…with…M..Mitchell.” I don't know how I uttered these words as my eyes are closing on their Accord and all I can see is blackness and their voices are absurd. I woke up feeling so uncomfortable and it took me a few moments to realise that I was locked up in the lowest dungeon. There was no window and no light. It reeked of mould and other unsightly things. I felt sick and wished that I had never left the packhouse that night. I tried to stand up from the floor but was pulled back by something which made me scream because I realised I was chained to the wall like an animal. The door clicked open and I blinked as light flooded the tiny dungeon.

Frost formed on his armour, ice crystals in his breath. At the bottom lay a cavern that predated human naming. Walls of black stone wept constant moisture that never reached the floor. The ceiling vanished in darkness so complete it might have been void. And at the centre, on a pedestal of fused bone... The Soulstone. It didn't look like much: a sphere of dark crystal perhaps the size of a man's fist. No radiating light, no ominous aura. It might have been polished obsidian except for the way it seemed to eat the torchlight, creating a perfect sphere of absolute darkness.
