To my surprise, the demon laughed and the spat a black sticky substance at the soul. The black substance stopped within the soul at the area the heart used to be. The soul tried to get it out but it couldn't. I looked at the demon and it breathed in and then out. Suddenly blood started piercing out of the demons jaw and it stared directly at the place where the black substance was. It was only then I had realized the kind of demon I had summoned. This is a demon that create something in a human's soul, that little hope, that little good, and then when the humans are happy, it would squeeze down to bits what that human loved the most.

Abigail asked, eyebrows needing together, I nodded, staring at her squarely knowing what she would ask next, “don’t they need blood to survive?” “She’s another kind of hybrid,’ I stated, turning my attention to Anna, my eyes softening on her, “if you look into her eyes, you can see her soul. Vampires, don’t have souls, that’s why they drink blood because it has the essence of a soul that keeps them alive,” I explained dryly, “Anna here, has all the gifts of a vampire, but has her soul,” I paused, her eyes shining in mine hints of red in them, “despite everything, she’s nowhere near a vampire.”

I noticed a small couch in a corner and took a seat on it. "Do you always watch me every night?" She suddenly asked me breaking the silence. "Since you got attacked," I confirmed and she nodded. "You're quite calm for someone who just learned that completely fictional characters actually exist," I pointed out. I've noticed ever since I told her that I was a vampire she kept a calm expression as if she's been told the exact same thing her whole life. "I really don't know either. I just feel this weird sense of belonging." That's probably the effect of the sacred book on her. She's the chosen one so she'd naturally feel attached to our species without even knowing.
