Epilogue…. Six years from the day they got married they stood outside her father’s farm house watching the older man take their daughter, Sophie, on the tractor while their son, Kyle, lay in his father’s arms sleeping. Maverick looked at her with his grin knowing soon enough she would be showing again the next addition to the family.

Emily cursed under her breath, "I'll tame you one day." The sparrow tried to escape a few times but failed every time. Even its last attempt of detonating all of its stored up energy into a Shockwave had amounted to nothing. The battle that lasted for over 7 hours had come to an anticlimactic end. After a brief rest, the team collected its energy core and got back on their way.

They often got on well enough to know about each other, or at the very least, entertain mutual and civil respect for one another. Samuel and I knew well enough that there was no Sparrow Harpy Clan. Such a thing didn't exist. The closest to this was the Hawk Harpy Clan, which had sparrow hawks within that clan, but they were very different and no Harpy bore a shifter's mark either. This young Sparrow was a true sparrow shapeshifter, and this hoard of Dark Ones had cut off one of her wings at such a young age. If she had ever flown before, being so young, she might have before now... yet if she had? Unfortunately, she would never again feel the joy of flight.

I questioned while keeping my emotions under control. Sparrow looked into my eyes and I briefly caught a glimpse of something there before it disappeared under his guarded expression. Kalmia said with a neutral voice just doing my job. The sight of him unleashed a powerful wave of anger and pain in me. When I caught sight of Sparrow who was Dawn's father my mind instantly filled with memories of the struggles and heartaches he had caused me. "You're really working here?" I asked, my tone laced with skepticism. "I'm working here," Sparrow confirmed while holding my gaze. "I'm the creative director here."
