I asked taking note of the book on fire mages she had been reading. As she filled me in about her day I began eating her potato stew. It was still warm and tasted like I was eating clouds that had been well seasoned with parsley and decadent spices. Before I knew it, I was filling another bowl while Ember spoke to me about the research she had done today about fire mages. "Ember, this is amazing," I drawled after she finished speaking. "Sorry, I've been listening but I've been enjoying your cooking, too." "Don't be sorry, I'm happy to hear you like it," Ember hummed happily.

She claimed the farthest corner seat, dropping her six-figure bag careless on the plastic chair beside. "Spicy kick?" The lady checked. "Load it up," Sophia grinned. "I'm a spice fiend." "You got it!" The woman hollered back cheery. Sophia had craved heat since kid days, but skin-care strict these years kept her from the heavy stuff. Roadside joint like this? Time to drown the hurt in fire. The lady hustled over a plate piled with chili-dusted wings. "My own blend—secret recipe. One taste, and they're hooked."

We both leaned in at the same time and took a bite. The moment the hot sauce hit my tongue, I grinned. It was exactly as good as I remembered — sweet, tangy, with that perfect little kick. But Nyla’s reaction was even better. Her eyes widened dramatically, and she let out a little surprised moan as she chewed faster, fanning her mouth with her free hand. “Wow, it’s actually really nice!” she said, nodding enthusiastically, still chewing. “Even with chips! The sweetness hits first, then that little kick… it’s like my mouth is dancing!”

I stopped at the library door and smiled to myself. ‘Books are better than people. Books don’t hate on you for something you didn’t do.’ I pushed the door open and breathed in the wonderful smell of books. ‘Paradise.’ I strolled to the shelves and scanned through the books, reading their names off their spines. ‘It seems Dante wasn’t joking when he said half of his library was filled horrors.’ A book caught my eye, and I pulled it from the others. “Bone and Souls by B. Brian.” I read the name aloud and skimmed through the description behind it. “This seems interesting.”

He asks Tam back. "Oh yes, after a long day at work, there is nothing better than a glass of wine and a good book." She says. "Ohh ask her about the books please. She loves a perticularly interasting genre." Mira says with a grin. Tamaras choice in books is impecalbe if you like spice and questionable behavier. I couldn't help but laugh at Mira’s words, her teasing tone lightening the mood around the table. Tamara’s face flushed slightly, but she didn’t seem embarrassed, more like she was caught in the middle of something playful.
