I murmured, heading to the kitchen to make tea. As I poured hot water into a cup, my eyes wandered to the large kitchen window. There, in the garden, I saw Zevarion. He was kneeling, plucking something carefully from the soil. Spider lilies, three of them. Delicate, bright, and unmistakable. Then he stood and began walking toward the woods. At first, it didn’t register. My mind refused to catch up with what my eyes had seen. Then it struck me. The fairy. Her words. When you're ready, take three spider lilies from the garden and drop them into the waterfall…

His sharp eyes scanned the garden, taking in every detail. I shook my head slightly and crouched near a cluster of silver-blue leaves. “Stormpetal,” I said, remembering the textbook. “It reacts to body heat. You have to pluck it fast, or it shocks you.” Darien nodded. “Correct.” I reached out quickly and yanked a stem. A tiny spark bit my fingers, but I got it. One down. The others weren’t as easy. Bloodroot Lily hid under thorny vines that lashed out if you breathed wrong. Asterleaf only showed itself in patches of moonlight, and we had to wait for the clouds to shift.

Wilhelmina questioned. "Because you're rare. It's not everyday that a human will stumble into this place. But I'm lucky to find you two. Since I can fly and my consorts cannot, I get to have you all to myself," "Consorts?" Myles asked with a cocked brow. This spider was attracted to same gender? "Yeah, my male consorts," the spider clarified, sensing what was going on in the duo's heads. "Uhm, can you not eat us?" Myles entreated, "We'll exchange for our lives with all our treasure. And we'll fulfill any task you'd like us to do."

The book cover is what I imaged it looks like. Red spider lilies symbolize death. They are associated with final goodbyes, and legend has it that these flowers grow wherever people part ways for good. In old Buddhist writings, the red spider lily is said to guide the dead through samsara, the cycle of rebirth. In Japanese, "Manjushage" for red spider lily means "flower of the heavens. Remember when William mentioned that Proserpina's veins glows red in Chapter Ten? It was because of the tattoo as well–her marking literally burns her skin and nerves which is actually the same curse Hades gave her in the Prologue.

I pick a petal from the flower, crushed it inside the bowl and mixed it until it was almost refined. "Wait, aren't those like.....deadly?" Isaac asks, upon seeing the flower on the table and what I've crushed into the bowl. "Could be" I shrugged as if it didn't matter, casting a glance at Collin who was still there just glaring at me. Lilium 'Stargazer' is a hybrid lily, it's not necessarily dangerous to humans. I have used it many times to make tea, and it is one of my favorite of the said plant family. It's scent is sweet and calming, I mostly grow these types, along with Madonna lily, my two favorites.

Its unique characteristics catch his attention, and he feels a connection to it. Tritan's attention turns to a particular oxyplant, recognizing it as his sister's favorite. With one of its many ancestors being an orchid, this oxyplant boasts vibrant purple blooms speckled with bioluminescent patterns.

Jessamine wanted to pull her hand away, but Thaddeus tightened his grip so much that she felt a jolt of pain. As they pushed and pulled, they heard the sound of something ripping. The sleeves of Jessamine's clothes were torn. Thaddeus was stunned to see the tattoo on her shoulder. It was a picture of a Red Spider Lily. If he looked closely, he could see the indents of a horrifying scar hidden in the petals. The red spider lily was a flower that symbolized death and rebirth, a fitting symbol of Jessamine's situation.

I felt inferior with this picture, wondering why I couldn’t get this glow after facial or bleach? There was just a little bit of change in the scenario this time, as she was now resting beside a tree trunk, lying in the sea of red spider lilies. She said, “Do you know these flowers are mildly poisonous, Helena.” She caught me off guard with her question, I shook my head for the sake of a proper conversation. “People say that this flower can kill small animals, so they use it for the protection of their fields. Some people even call them ‘death flower’. You are also like it, Helena.”
