It hit like a tidal wave, dragging me under all over again. I forced myself to stand, weak and shivering. As I turned toward the mirror, something caught my eye, just for a moment. My wolf was there, but not like any I’d ever seen, she was massive, jet black, darker than night, darker than death itself. Her eyes burned like fire, vivid orange flames dancing in a soulless void. I screamed and stumbled backward, crashing to the floor, my heart pounding like war drums. When I dared to look again, she was gone. Only my own reflection stared back, shaken. What are you? I thought, clutching my chest.

Lupu gestured for me to step inside the room, and as I hesitated, my eyes caught a disturbing sight: a creature resembling a wolf, but chained to the wall. Its eyes glinted with a wild, feral intelligence, and its fur was matted and scarred. I shouted without thinking, "What kind of wolf is that?" but the words barely escaped my mouth. Mr. Lupu looked at me calmly and replied, "That is no wolf, John. That is a werewolf," his voice steady but tinged with an ominous undertone.

My body reacted before my fear could catch up, pivoting into him with all my might. For a fleeting moment—Contact. It was solid. It was real. I almost doubted my ability. But my wolf believed in me. He didn't see that coming. I noticed the flicker, and that was all the opening I needed. I spun, going for his throat, but he grabbed me right in the middle of the move. Of course he did. But this time—I didn’t stop. I drove forward anyway, nails digging in, teeth bared, a snarl ripping out of me like something wild had finally found its voice.

My breathing became rapid and my chest thudded in quick paces. Not spiders? I hated spiders. There entire body made me feel creeped out. Goosebumps rattled on my skin. In total disgust, my wolf started to resurface. Weakly, I took off my clothes and tied it to my legs. The moment my wolf shifted, she broke the attic door and ran out. I tried to stop her but she was so wild from the loss of her mate.

It wasn't even a breath before he was across the room with his hands on my shoulders as I looked out the window. "I know you're confused, Elodie. That man has a way of manipulating people. But I also know you're a very smart girl. You can tell the difference between good and bad." I saw Spinner's reflection and how his eyes descended on me when he thought I was otherwise distracted. It was an interaction I'd never had to worry about before as he was never so...bold. He was right, I could differentiate between good and bad. Max stopped his vehicle abruptly. He couldn't let the woman fight alone. Max got out of the car and transformed into wolf form, and lunged at the wild mob that was ganging up on the one or maybe two people who were there. Max didn't feel like he knew the woman, but he didn't feel like a stranger. He dismissed those thoughts momentarily and drove away the wolves, whose strength was not even half of Max's strength. The ten or so of them finally ran away when they realized Max was not an equal opponent.

She was about to ask if it was him who saved her and her son but stopped seeing that Aldophus was already on the other side of the battle and he had already began a one-sided slaughter on the ironclad spiders. The ironclad spiders had an incredibly tough body, as their name suggested, their defenses were top tier in the realm of mystical creatures, a mature ironclad spider was capable of fighting head to head with even Alpha Wolve's, even if it couldn't win the battle it was sure to escape with it's life. "What do we do captain?" The leader of the villager's came back to reality and watched his surroundings he had been mesmerized by Aldophus's performance and had stood with his mouth agape.

He thrashed, fighting against the restraints, pulling them opposite each other and trying to break loose. They were too strong. He struggled to sit up, but something was off. There was a heaviness in his stomach, and he recalled the feeling from his dream. “Dad, something’s wrong!” Jeff looked down and repressed a scream. “My stomach! It’s . . . ” ‘A spider’s cephalothorax is fused with its abdomen and makes up the lower portion of the arachnid.’ Mr. Drake’s voice echoed in his thoughts.

The creature screamed — a sonic shriek that clawed at my ears — and a dozen writhing tentacles burst from its torso, coiling around my throat, burning through my pelt with acid venom. I bit down harder — until its back arched and cracked. I lifted it clear off the floor with nothing but my jaws and slammed it against the east wall — the stone splitting into a spiderweb of smoking fissures. My hind claws tore into its ragged belly, rending it open from throat to pelvis — shadow, slime, and ancient rot spilling over the floor. “YOU DO NOT TOUCH MY FEMALE — NOTHING TOUCHES MINE!” The voice of my Wolf thundered inside its mind, a landslide made flesh.

About twenty meters away I spot them, or more to the point I spot him. Clayton Blackridge Alpha of the Lobo Sombra pack in his huge gun metal grey wolf. Standing to his right is a brown and grey wolf slightly smaller in height and not as muscular, possibly his Beta. My wolf starts stalking towards them and even though I am protesting she wants him. As I get closer he shifts back then the other wolf turns I realise he is giving us some privacy.
