The HIDDENS
I rolled to the side, my heart racing.
“Spread out!” Jake ordered.
We obeyed, fanning out to surround the creature. Sophie’s arrows struck its side, but they barely seemed to faze it. Althea sent a bolt of magic at its head, and it screeched in pain, but it wasn’t enough to slow it down.
“Keep its attention on me!” Jake shouted, shifting into his wolf form again. He darted around the spider, snapping at its legs and drawing its ire.
I took advantage of the distraction, climbing onto one of its massive legs. The surface was slick with some kind of ichor, and I nearly lost my grip.
