CRUNCH. A massive Titan-Class Droid stepped through the breach. It was twelve feet of reinforced steel and hydraulic rage, armed with a rotary cannon. "Target: The Hackers," The Titan’s synthesized voice boomed. "No!" Aurora threw a telekinetic shield up, but the Titan’s mass was too great. It smashed through her shield with a casual backhand, sending Aurora flying into a server rack. "Aurora!" Kael screamed. He charged the Titan, risking his life to jam his electrified baton into its knee joint.

Lyra whispered urgently. "They aren't just drones," Valerius whispered, his violet eyes glowing with a terrifying clarity. "I can smell them. The Black-Sun Assassins. They’ve bypassed your static. They're already in the basement." At that exact moment, the reinforced doors at the end of the corridor twisted violently then exploded inward. Three figures stepped through the flames. Each assassin held a weapon. Dusk-Blades—weapons designed to sever the connection between a shifter and their primordial form.

When they went outside they saw what Ashley was talking about, there was the guardian in his usual brown robe, but this time his eyes were white, then there was Drevis back from Solaria and the battle on the day of Serenity. “I know who you are.” Said Sekora to the guardian, but I don’t know you.” She said turning to Drevis. “I am Drevis, second in command to Kariya.” Said the robot. “No, I don’t think so buddy, he’s got Luese to do all his dirty work now .” said Sekora with a smirk that made Drevis get angry. “I will kill you for saying these lies!” He screamed, then ran at Sekora with two swords.

Three combat droids charged. Sebastian didn't dodge. He caught the first droid by the head and crushed it. CRUNCH. He ripped the arm off the second droid and used it to impale the third.

“Guess you can see that for yourself.” I remained silent, my expression unreadable. I started toward the door, but Casey shifted, blocking my path. “You know,” he said, voice casual, “I’m actually glad he’s gone.” That made me pause. My eyes narrowed slightly, a silent demand for him to continue. Casey’s lips curled into something that wasn’t quite a smile. “I knew what you were from the beginning. Assassin. A famous one, at that.” He tilted his head, watching me carefully. “I always wanted to warn Gerald, tell him exactly what kind of woman he was dealing with. But I didn’t, because I was afraid.”

“Mercenaries, for lack of a better term. We’re highly trained, and it’s all we knew. The fighting, the killing, but at least now we get to choose who we do it for. We’ve been using our services to help right some of the imbalance that we created.” He seemed to finally be saying the things that were bubbling up inside him. The things that I kept cutting him off from saying. That, or he was trying to throw me off, use a trick to try to gain my trust and confidence.
