Riven The hospital room felt colder than it ever had before. I watched as Stiles stood perfectly still by the wall. His eyes were wide, but they looked glassy and blank. He was staring at nothing. We all knew what was happening. He was listening to the voice of his father through the link. We sat in total silence and watched him. Finally, Stiles blinked and came back to us. He looked at me, then his eyes moved to Sky, and then to Grey. His face was as white as a sheet of paper. His hands were trembling so much he had to ball them into fists.

I go stone-cold, unmoving even after she slowly pulls away from me. Warm brown eyes stare up at me, waiting. But my mind goes completely blank.

I try to stop openly staring, but I can’t. He just looks so … paternal. “Cam?” his voice snaps me out of my weird hazy daydream, and I realise he is both looking at me and talking to me. A strained expression and a confused tone as to why I’m blankly gawping like an idiot. My face is cold and I’m sure my blood has drained to leave me white as I sheet. “What?” I flinch and spin my head around to see what or where I’m meant to be paying attention.

Sitting there for a while longer as I ponder what just took place, I find myself doubting everything that I have learned so far. So, as I try to get my mind off it by glancing around the room and watching as everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, I realize that there is something horribly wrong with this picture. When I am not looking directly at someone, they are staring at me with a blank look in their eyes. They aren’t really chatting. They are just making noise while their mouths move. A constant murmur surrounds me, and I realize that it is all just a clever disguise.

Mom just stared wide eyed. Shit

But looking at her now, that fire was nowhere to be found, her shining brown eyes which often looked like swirls of melted chocolate, now deflated and vacant. I lift my hand and link it gently with her slender fingers and it's only when my skin meets hers does she finally look away from the ceiling and back to me. "Hey," I try to smile, something to get a different reaction from her blank face, but she doesn't do anything apart from stare straight back at me, though even that looks like she is staring straight through me and not actually looking at me. "One more chance," She finally says where silence reigns for a while.

Can he tell that behind this blank stare, I’m about to cry, combust, and commit murder in one breath? He doesn’t say anything. He just keeps staring at me. I blink fast and think to myself. "Mike, you want to play with my feelings here? Game on."

At the same time! An imperceptible surprise flashed across Zephyr Khan's eyes. Then, it disappeared in a flash! His eyes began to become blank...
