Started When We Were Younger Novels & Stories

Something that wasn't going away. It was a start.

"You were so small." "People kept saying that." "Tiny little Bri." He said it simply, like it was just a fact, and I went very still for exactly one second. "You remember that," I said. "Of course I remember it." He looked at me with something that was almost amusement but quieter. "I'm the one who started it." I had forgotten that. Or maybe I hadn't forgotten it so much as I had filed it somewhere I didn't visit often because sixteen year old feelings were embarrassing in retrospect and I had enough to deal with without excavating those particular memories.

It did not start from the time we pranked our friends and wore matching onesies. It starts from a time I remember distinctly. I can recall the events as if they just happened yesterday. It actually begins from our last year of high school. Specifically the last summer before the last year of high school. √√

It was a survival mechanism, a shell I had grown to protect the soft, bruised parts of myself. It had all started when I was six years old. The memories of that time were hazy, like a dream seen through thick fog, but I remembered when the owner of our orphanage had changed. That was when the food grew scarce, the blankets grew thin, and the laughter of the children died out.

He grinned affectionately at the memories. "But in the long run, adolescence hit and we got eager, so we wandered out. We were approximately thirteen when we came over the unused pack. They took us in, made a difference us through our to begin with shifts, and welcomed us to gotten to be full-fledged individuals when we were ancient sufficient to pass their tests. They'd been great to us, so we stayed."

We were a unit, a force to be reckoned with, facing life's challenges side by side. Growing up, we were mischievous, always pushing boundaries and exploring the world around us. Whether it was climbing trees, spying on our neighbors, or venturing into forbidden territories, we were always in it together. There was an unspoken understanding among a promise that we would face any obstacles united and fearless.

Under the glow. Under the same promise we’d made fifteen years ago in a cramped dorm room under tangled strings. Forever. Still just beginning.

he suddenly uttered on the line, cutting me off and that made me stunned. We were best of friends since we are still toddlers as both of our parents are close with each other. We grew up almost seeing every day. We played, ate, laughed, slept, cried, and shared all of our firsts together. We always have each other’s back . . . before.

We moved to a new city, bought a new house, and started over from scratch. It was a fresh start for all of us, and we were determined to make the most of it. We threw ourselves into our new community, made new friends, and started building a new life together. And although we would never forget the trials and tribulations that we had been through, we knew that we were stronger for having gone through them together.

We both let out a content sigh and snuggled deeper under my warm duvets. I smiled knowing that this is just our beginning and we had our whole lives to create memories and many more babies. This isn't the end, it's the beginning for us. T
