Donovan’s golden eyes searched my face, waiting for a slip, for a single crack in the mask I had spent years perfecting.
I gave him nothing.
After a long, agonizing moment, he released me.
Leaning back in his chair, he studied me with a look that was both calculating and vaguely irritated.
“You’re good,” he admitted. “Most would have folded by now.”
I smiled. Just a little. “I’m just a servant, Alpha.”
Donovan let out a quiet hum, unconvinced.
His fingers tapped the table once, twice. Then, finally:
“Salvatore is planning something.”
