I took that as a good sign but I kept my face a placid mask so she wouldn't see my gratification. "My name is Sydney Holt. I'm the Alpha of Alphas. Even Steve's employees don't know who Steve is; he keeps his identity a secret. Shane Morris, a longtime buddy of his, is the only person who is aware of his true identity. No one else does. Before Steve's return to Western Australia to take over the family business, he was hidden away in another nation for several years so that the press would not discover his true identity. Even since he was born, Steve was a strange entity, and neither of Steve's parents could explain how he had come to be that way. They take care to conceal him, and maintain his profile as low as possible rather than letting him interact with the outside world.

He looked taller in real life than he did on the TV. “Hello,” he said, flashing us a brilliant smile with perfectly straight, white teeth. His face was tanned and he wore a gray suit. “I’m Steve.” “We know,” I giggled, feeling like a young child on Christmas morning. Adonis held out his hand. “Adon This, charmed,” he said as Steve shook his hand. “Well look at you,” Steve said with an approving nod. “The producers told me we had someone special coming in today. He was a local contractor a couple years out of trade school and two years older than Lisa. Everyone but Gwen was surprised when Ms. Summers arrived with a date. His name was Larry Donner. The guy was as big as Ashley Summers was petite. He was the stereotypical body builder with an amazing physique surpassed only by his vanity. Steve took an immediate dislike to the guy. When they were introduced, Donner tried to squeeze Steve's hand into pulp. Steve reaction was to look at his hand and back at Donner. All he wanted was to sign some contracts. Naturally, other people would be in charge of operating said assets. As for how Steve would report the situation to his superiors after getting his life back, it had nothing to do with Harvey. On the side, Avel watched everything with a bewildered stare. He recognized who Steve was, more or less. He also knew about Steve getting trampled over as soon as he had arrived. Before, Avel had no idea who was responsible for that. How could he? Now he stared at Steve’s miserable appearance, and then at his unscathed self. Although he was a mob boss, he felt like he had a close brush with death.

She asked as she noticed the ring on his finger. “Yeah…I am.” Steve replied. “I guess…you don’t have a happy home right?” She asked. “Yeah…I apologize for the way I went off you last night, honestly I just couldn’t control myself.” Steve muttered sadly. “It’s fine…at least I enjoy it…you’re so good in bed!” She exclaimed. “What the hell….” Steve said to himself. “You nearly died last night…and you aren’t even bothered!” Steve said in disbelief. “Well.. I’m not dead.. so cut the crap.” She said blatantly. “Seeing your face clearly now…I know you, you’re MR STEVE PARKER, the CEO of RUSEL LTD.” She added.

There’s silence between them and then Steve speaks. “Because she’s my mate,” he says. His voice is calm but firm. “I will choose her a thousand times over you, Vanessa.” My breath catches, and I cover my lips before I can make a sound. “You’re making a mistake, Steve.” Vanessa’s voice trembles. “No, you made a mistake.” His tone darkens. “And I’m warning you, if you ever think about hurting Ava, you’ll regret it.” There’s a deadly silence again. “I mean it,” Steve continues. “What we did to you yesterday? That was just a warning. If you try anything else, I won’t hold back.”

I glare at him, as I stalk to him, I feel Ceaser push forward and he growls, shaking the walls, "my mate is in pain, I need to feel it, I need to know, you need to shut the fuck up before I tear you into shreds."
