Blood poured from his nose, dripping onto the floor in steady splatters. "I'll ask again," Xerxes growled, his amber eyes glowing faintly. "Who sent you?" The rogue groaned, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. “No one,” he managed to croak, spitting blood onto the floor. “We weren’t sent. Rogues are free animals. We want nothing but revenge on the pack that ostracized us.” I leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching the scene unfold. My silence wasn’t out of disinterest but rather calculation. I studied every twitch, every flicker of emotion that crossed the rogue’s battered face. His words had conviction, but his eyes betrayed him. He was lying.

“We took all of our orders from Sterning. We never met the King once. We don’t even know if the King is a man or a woman. You caught Sterning…You should ask Sterning these questions!” The fight between Damien and Sterning was life or death. Damien did not have any time to interrogate Sterning before killing him. And with Sterning dropping died, nobody knew who the Rogue King was, not even these rogues. How clever. “Please…let me go,” the rogue begged Aurora. “I told you everything that I know. No one is around. They won’t know if you set me free—”

With one snap of his jaws, the rogue’s throat was gone. Nyx and the other warriors swarmed the rest of the men. It was a bloodbath. The rogues were outnumbered and outmatched by the elite Silverstone guard. Storm, sensing the distraction, gathered the last bit of strength in his body. Even with a broken leg and a shot foot, he slammed his forehead into the nose of the man holding his right arm. The rogue stumbled back, clutching his face, and Storm collapsed to the ground, rolling away from Juno’s line of fire.

Marcus roars as he charges the rogue that stood there smirking at him, happy when he saw Marcus's reaction to the wolf he just killed. Marcus charges the rogue, shifting back, and sliding to a stop in front of the rogue. Marcus's partially shifted hand thrusts forward with his claws extended and pierces his hand through the rogue's chest. His hand wraps around the rogue's heart before yanking his hand back and ripping the rogue's heart out. The rogue's eyes widen, horrified before his body falls limp to the ground. .... Xander finds Leo struggling near the Western border, south of the river entrance. Xander quickly makes his way over, plowing into the three rogues that had him pinned.

They moved with the coordinated precision of a hunting pack, not the chaotic desperation of typical rogues. *Coordinated attacks,* I thought, remembering Marcus Silver's casual mention of increased rogue activity. *Someone's testing Storm pack defenses.* "Connor, can you move?" I asked, already working to unbuckle my seatbelt. "Yeah, but the engine's dead. We're on foot from here." I kicked out the rear window and crawled through, landing in a crouch on the broken asphalt. The rogues were closing in, their formation designed to cut off any escape route back toward pack territory. Professional. Military-precise.

Their eyes burned with determination, their muscles rippling as they dodged and countered the rogue's attacks. I noticed one of the storm pack's warriors, a massive wolf with a scar across his face, his powerful jaws snapping at any rogue that dared come close. On the other side, the rogues were savaging, a disorganized mass of fur and fangs. Their eyes were wild with desperation and rage, and they attacked with reckless abandon. They outnumbered the Storm Pack warriors, but their lack of coordination was evident. Each rogue fought for themselves, lashing out at anything that moved.

“Thank you for joining us here today to discuss the issues of the recent rogue attacks,” Tyler says. “Are Grim Ire and Crescent Star not joining us?” Alpha Richard asks. “Both packs declined our invitation,” Tyler informs them. He opens the laptop that sat on the table in front of him. With a few clicks, a report shows up on the display screen along the wall opposite where Tyler and I currently sit. “These are the statistics of the most recent rogue attacks on Moonfang. We have not been able to connect the attacks to a certain group of rogues, nor have we been able to determine if there is a mastermind behind them or not,” Tyler explains.

I ask again, still so confused as to how he is able to be here with other rogues. Not only did he get past our borders and into the dance, but they don’t smell like rogues at all. It is like I couldn’t smell his scent until he wanted me to. Even with me now being able to smell him, there is no trace of rogue smell at all. “Let’s just say I have a few friends on the inside.” He drops his face to my neck, kissing it and I inhale sharply. “Why are you doing this Shane? You know I am mated, and engaged now. Why keep this charade up?”

Its Rowena, I don’t think a princess is ever going to be a sacrifice. Silence followed after I had said that,but I felt his tension ease. I looked at him in a way he wouldn’t know, I wanted to take all his features, his looks and the way he looked at me when I wasn’t starring. Why do they call you the rogue Alpha , I found myself asking. When I asked that question it seemed to get his attention because he looked at me. I don’t go with their rules princess and I don’t worship their stupid moon goddess who abandoned my people when your people turned against us or because I protected my people with my own power.
