The cold air bites at my skin as I take out my flask and a can of soup. The first sip of hot water warms me, easing the tension in my muscles. I twist the lid off the soup and wrinkle my nose at the sight of the thick, brown cream of mushroom. My stomach groans, protesting the thought, but hunger wins.
I gulp it down quickly, my eyes watering as I swallow each cold, slimy mouthful. When the can is empty, I rinse the taste away with another sip of water and tuck everything neatly back into the bag.
