Anyway, he kept saying that there are horrible creatures that lurk in the darkness here… While growing up he told me the story of the time when he was ten years old, his dog ran out of his family home—this townhome, the home I’m just about my home until my dad gets out of jail and the social worker says I can go back. He goes on and says that he watched his dog die that night being eaten alive by a wolf-like humanoid that he himself barely made it back home to safety. Then there were these stories of the locals being blood-sucking vampires and all the BS surrounding that subject. Oh and the witches of the forest and the great lake—supposedly they lure pregnant women to their deaths and drown

The one that reminded her of her mother. He moved them to this weird, small town that she hates. The people are strange. They have these weird legends that they live by. Like the woods behind her house. They call it the 'Forbidden Forest' like it is a freaking Harry Potter book. No one goes in them. The trees behind her house stretch on for miles and miles, a line of trees as far as the eye can see. But people say that there is a mansion, somewhere through the perpetual darkness and the spooky trees. The people around the town also claim that it is haunted. That a monster lives in those woods and he kills anyone that goes in them.

He kept walking, and Blaine stayed close behind him. What exactly does he mean by that? Is there anyone else in this room besides us? But Jake said that he lives alone here before i came ! He isn't talking about supernatural beings, right? Is this place being hunted? Is it because the house, despite its size, is being hunted that no one else lives here besides him? After all, you can defend yourself in the living, but a gun would simply pass through a ghost.
