To my surprise, I was greeted by my pack frantically running about, someone shouting about shutting the storm shutters and preparing for an emergency. Perplexed, I track down Malcom’s scent and find my cousin ordering wolves about. “What the hell is happening?” I demand, watching Malcom frown before turning to me. “No one knows. The sun was shining brightly one moment, then bam, a sudden storm happened.” My cousin answers, making me frown. How could the weather change so suddenly when the forecast for the next few days was clear skies?

“What was that?” Before I can answer, one of the crew appears at the doorway, rain dampening the shoulders of his uniform. He bows slightly. “Mr. Blackwell, Madam, there’s a large storm system moving in faster than forecasted. We’re adjusting course, but it may get rough shortly.” The room shifts. Just a fraction—but enough. My siblings exchange nervous glances. My father mutters something about incompetent weather reports. I rise from my chair, my movements measured, deliberate. “Thank you. Keep me informed.”

The storm had been building all evening, rattling the grand windows of the Moretti mansion. Lightning split the sky above New York, illuminating the city in jagged bursts of silver. The men moved quickly around her, boarding all the windows and doors; the Diner growing darker and darker with each board fitted.

They were back in the mansion. Ash had gathered the Alpha's warriors and filled them in on the situation. One of the cleaners had turned on the radio and Lola heard on the news that extreme weather was to be expected as she walked down after having changed clothes. Extreme rainfall was to occur during the night and the following days in and around town. She had the keys to her car and a small bag with toiletries. Ash and the warriors came out of the office and saw Lola standing at the entrance. His shoulders rose in a predatory bow as he stalked towards her.
