Rachel was curled up with Miles on one couch, Miranda stretched on the rug beside a mountain of plush toys, Cassie sat cross-legged holding a glitter pen, and Naomi sat beside Raymond with their arms around each other, soft and comfortable.
Alex walked in with two mugs of hot cocoa and handed me one. “Still holding up, Mama?”
“Barely,” I laughed, leaning into him as he sat beside me.
Dad turned off the TV, and Mom clapped once. “Alright. We’re all here. I want us to do something.”
Raymond blinked. “Something scary?”
“No,” she chuckled. “Something meaningful.”
She reached into a small basket and pulled out a journal. On the cover, it said Letters to Baby.
